What do house design plans cost?
There is no simple answer to costs, as this will depend on a number of factors including: the scale of your project, the site, wind classification, and design constraints set by councils.
As a guide, our fees can be based on percentage of construction cost or estimated hours. Placing these in perspective, we remind that many real estate agents charge commissions of 3.3% based on the higher purchase price.
Our fees are in keeping with the BDAQ Typical Fees Schedule, and we have received many awards for our designs and documentation. When considering or comparing fees, please keep in mind that poor documentation can add 11% in construction costs and “you only get what you pay for”.
(a) Preliminary Review and Proposal Costs
For a nominal fee, Glen will visit your home, discuss your design requirements (design brief), budget requirements and give general design guidance.
A written fee proposal for the design work will be provided with no further obligation.
(b) Intent (Working) Drawings Costs
When the fee proposal is accepted a BDAQ Contract of Engagement is provided for signing. Work will proceed soon after receipt of the signed Contract and the nominated retention/deposit amount.
(c) Contract Administration Costs
Planning applications, sub-consultants, calling tenders and contract administration can be arranged on your behalf. Sub-consultants’ fees are billed directly from the sub-consultant to the client and the fees paid directly to the sub-consultant by the client.
